The Council of Albanian Ambassadors hosted in a welcome meeting the new resident Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Albania, His Excellency Mr. Anar Huseynov.

The Council of Albanian Ambassadors congratulated the senior Azeri diplomat on the start of his mission as resident Ambassador in our country, wishing him as much success as possible in further strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.

Economic and cultural cooperation, projects and investments in the gasification of the country through the TAP gas pipeline, as well as investments in tourism and other areas of mutual interest, were some of the topics discussed with Ambassador Huseynov.

We also emphasized that the lifting of visas for Albanian citizens would be a good signal for the relations between our two countries and would serve to strengthen cooperation in all fields.

Albania respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and closely follows recent developments and its efforts to reintegrate the territories of Nagorno Karabakh region. We support the peaceful solutions of pending cases, as well as the respect of international laws.

Appreciating Azerbaijan’s achievements in all fields, we requested that Azeri diplomacy move willingly towards the state of Kosova, taking practical steps in recognizing an already irreversible reality that would serve to strengthen peace and stability in the region.

During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on important issues of international developments and especially the situation in Ukraine, as result of Russian aggression, the possibility of achieving peace there, etc.
